Speak Truth!

Where do I turn when the darkness overwhelms me? It’s 4 am and I am in a full panic attack! All my deepest fears, swirling in my head, taunting me…Why? That’s what my husband asked me when he woke up and found me in the kitchen. I wish I could explain.

When the enemy attacks and my mind swirls out of control, there is no reasoning. There is no rationalization. There is only fear and panic. What will happen? What will I do? My life will be over!
The enemy can strike so quickly and so viciously, there is only one place to hide. So, I got up and took out my bible and began to read the promises of my God.

In Psalm 42, David cries out to God in his anguish. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me…” Psalm 62, David again looks to God for his peace, “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.”

So, what broke the fear that gripped me, so early this morning? TRUTH! I spoke my fear to my husband, and he reassured me. He held me and he spoke truth into my fear! And faced with the truth, my fear fled! My panic ceased and the light was brought back into my morning. Satan is the Father of Lies and he will use whatever your greatest fear is to immobilize you. But do not allow him to win! Pick up the WORD and challenge him. Speak truth and he will flea!

In Ephesians, Paul instructs Christians to put on the armor of God. Why would we need to wear armor if we are not in a battle?

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Do not attempt to go into battle without your armor! And don’t overestimate your enemy. He is the father of lies and the author of destruction, but he is not all powerful and he is not all knowing! He attacks but he cannot be in all places at all times and he does not know the outcome. Think about that for a minute…he doesn’t know that he has already lost the battle! But we have a God who is all knowing and all powerful. Our God is omnipresent, in all places at all times, so as I struggled this morning, he was with me. And as you struggle, he is with you! He knows all and sees all! And he is a loving God because he knows that the enemy has come to destroy us, so he left us HIS armor so that we not only could fight, but we could win! So, when the enemy attacks and your fear overwhelms you; take heart! Speak TRUTH! And the devil will flee. James 4:7, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Fear is a Liar!
