Heaven Rules!

I got home last night from attending a women’s conference in Indianapolis; True Woman 2022, presented by Revive Our Hearts and Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth. I was 1 of about 5,000 women from all over the world in attendance.  The message that reverberated throughout the weekend, “Heaven Rules”.  Heaven Rules—when we are facing heart failure. Heaven Rules—when we have prodigal children. Heaven Rules—when we are facing fear. Heaven Rules—EVERYTHING, our plans, our dreams, our anxiety, and yes…our government. One of the first points that struck my heart, as Nancy spoke, we cannot look to a politician to save us. Heaven Rules and God is the only one who is able to save! That point in Nancy’s message was like a dart to the bullseye of my heart. We cannot place all our hope in a politician to save our country. There is no one able to change the hearts of this nation, outside of God.

Nancy shared how God rules over the macro and the micro. God rules over the big and the small things that affect our lives. He rules over my stage 3 heart failure diagnosis, and He rules over the number on my bathroom scale. He rules over my children who have walked away from His loving embrace, and He rules over this blog, as I sit pounding out the words on my laptop. He rules over the people in our government, and He rules over the boss I answer to each day. This country is facing so many trials right now and many of us are looking to November for our hope. But, dear friend, there is no earthly power or kingdom that will last forever. Only God’s kingdom is indestructible, and our God will have the final word. No matter who is sitting in the White House, Heaven Rules. We should not be afraid because we know who will have the final victory. In the end, God will deliver His people and He will destroy all of His enemies. Psalm 2 speaks of the futility of their struggle against the power of the Almighty God.

Why do the nations rage
    and the peoples plot in vain?
 The kings of the earth set themselves,
    and the rulers take counsel together,
    against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
 “Let us burst their bonds apart
    and cast away their cords from us.”

 He who sits in the heavens laughs;
    the Lord holds them in derision.
 Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
    and terrify them in his fury, saying,
 “As for me, I have set my King
    on Zion, my holy hill.”

 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;
    today I have begotten you.
 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
    and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron
    and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
    be warned, O rulers of the earth.
 Serve the Lord with fear,
    and rejoice with trembling.
 Kiss the Son,
    lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
    for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Being a Christian will not put a magical forcefield around you, protecting you from pain, disease, and suffering. Christ tells us in John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” The message from all the speakers this past weekend, no matter what lies before us…no matter what obstacle we are facing…no matter what pain grips our hearts…Heaven Rules. Each day, we need to get up and get to work. We are to serve our true King when, where and how He tells us, until the time that He calls us home. We are to serve Him with confidence. We are to serve Him with clean hearts, pouring ourselves into His word so that we can be prepared when the battle rages. This is not some useless platitude, mind over matter mumbo jumbo. Our savior knows that we will struggle, and we will grieve.  But grief is temporary in the light of eternity. “…Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”

I challenge you, as I am challenging myself…look to Heaven and let go of your fear. Study His word that you might truly know Him. Kay Arthur said on Saturday, “You can’t spend too much time in the Word of God. The more you know God, the more you know His word, the stronger you will be. So that whatever comes your way, you can stand firm and take action and walk righteously.” Give Him your life and He will give you rest! Bury His word in your heart so you will be ready to face the evil one when he brings his attack. Do not be discouraged! Heaven Rules and we are children of the King!
