Moment by Moment

Being a Christian isn’t about being “perfect” or thinking that I am better than anyone else. It’s about making choices, moment by moment. It’s about choices that will please Christ and not grieve him. Some of my choices I am very proud of. I saw the mistakes my dad made and I made a conscious decision not to repeat those mistakes. I never tried drugs. The idea didn’t even appeal to me after watching my dad descend into the hell that life brought to all of us. But more importantly, I chose each day to follow Christ. I am not perfect. I have made many mistakes. I have failed many times. I have done things that I regret and made decisions that I wish I could take back. But, even in those moments, I didn’t lose sight of my faith or of my savior. Romans 3:23- “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.

Christ isn’t looking for perfection. Christ’s love for me…and for you…is unconditional! Nothing I can do changes his love for me. I do not have to check off a list in order to please him. Pslam 107 was written long before Christ went to die on the cross in my place, yet the Psalmist wrote- “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind”. -Psalm 107:8

So, I choose to serve him. It isn’t about being a “good Christian”. Serving him is about moments–a brief moment in time-an opportunity. Look for the moments that the Lord gives you.
